About DDGA

The Danville Disc Golf Association is a non-profit recreational association for disc golf enthusiasts of all type and skill levels.  Our mission is promote and facilitate a variety of disc golf activities and programs in the Danville, VA area, and to raise awareness of disc golf.  We are also striving to promote competitive disc golf in the area and work with city/county representatives to maintain and improve existing disc golf facilities, including the eventual adding of new courses.  The DDGA is a membership organization governed by a volunteer board of directors.

About the Sport of Disc Golf

Disc golf, commonly referred to as "Frisbee" golf, is played along the principles of traditional ball golf. However, instead of hitting a ball into a hole, a player throws a specially designed flying disc into a "pole hole" or elevated basket. Disc golf is considered to be one of the fastest-growing sports since the 1990s. Today, there are over 40,000 members of the Professional Disc Golf Association (PDGA), the governing body for disc golf around the world. There are currently over 3,000 established disc golf courses. Most of these are in the United States, and unlike traditional golf courses, nearly 90% of them (including ours) are free to play for any member of the public! Disc golf is played by people of all ages and skill levels.

About Ballou Park Disc Golf Course

Ballou Park Disc Golf Course I is a short, 9-hole beginner course with plenty of short-game challenge.

Ballou Park Disc Golf Course II is an 18-hole championship course that is diverse and imaginative. It includes wooded, open, short, long, up, down, left, and right shots, and much elevation. The course has beautiful fairways and difficult rough. It's a risk/reward course. The short holes are very technical.

Hwy. 29 into Danville to West Main exit. Right on West Main 1 mile to Ballou Park Shopping Center (on left). Turn right into Ballou Park (across street from McDonalds).
