The
Danville Regional Foundation has awarded the Danville Disc Golf
Association a "Make it Happen" grant of $10,000 for the completion
of the disc golf course at Ballou Park in Danville. The funds will
purchase course equipment such as concrete tee pads, signage, and
more.
Currently, Ballou Park holds two disc golf courses. A short, 9-hole
course located near West Main St. will be enhanced with new tee
signs on each hole, and an informational kiosk at Hole #1. The
"short" course is an excellent place for players to learn the sport,
or to work on their short game.
An 18-hole course is currently played on the back side of the park,
around the areas of an existing nature trail. 9 of the tee pads on
this course have been completed. The grant will enable the DDGA and
the City of Danville (Parks, Recreation, & Tourism) to install the
remaining 9 amateur tee pads, as well as professional concrete tee
pads that will essentially create an alternate, extended-length
course for advanced players.
Other enhancements will include a new, larger information kiosk on
the 18-hole course, a putting practice basket, some benches, and new
signage throughout the course.
The DRF's "Make it Happen" grant stipulates that the funded project
must be completed within 90 days of the funds release, so the DDGA
expects the course to be completed by Mid-June.
